Running Thoroughbred “Sunny” Mug

Product Description

Horse images on various objects are popular gifts and souvenirs in Kentucky, but this mug is truly special. It’s not just any horse head stuck on a mug. Artist in clay, Melvin Rowe, actually owns the thoroughbred and did life studies from the horse to sculpt the bust on the mug. The thoroughbred is a retired racehorse Rowe adopted from the Makers Mark Secretariat Center in Lexington, Kentucky, and is named Sunsmanship, or Sunny for short. Rowe and his wife Vivian ride Sunny and their other horse several times a week.

The mug holds 16 ounces.

All pieces are ovenproof, dishwasher safe, microwavable and non-toxic.  All dimensions stated are average, and due to the nature of handcrafted pottery, may vary slightly with individual pieces.
